This event featured high-quality barbeque menus that didn’t merely entail the usual hamburgers and hot dogs. Rather, there was an interesting twist: no grills were allowed, so Flavor Catering had to pre-mark everything and cook on-sight in proofing boxes.
Originally in Central Park, the event moved downtown at the last minute due to the weather, and Flavor Catering still set up everything on time. Because of the location change, we had to contend with many logistical challenges. However, in the end, we executed a highly successful event.

“Every year, our company hosts an annual family picnic. Employees are encouraged to bring their family to an afternoon gathering and lunch in Central Park. Over the course of 2011, the company’s staff had significantly grown. We were expecting to have 200-plus people in Central Park during one of the hottest months of the year!
I had the pleasure of working with Jon and Craig multiple times prior, so I didn’t hesitate to reach out. I knew their expertise, attention to detail, delightful staff and delicious food would, without a doubt, help me pull-off a successful event.
I contacted Jon and talked him through our needs. This event was going to be a challenge, because of the number of people we were expecting and the location of our picnic in Central Park.
Jon and I met multiple times; we conducted site visits to the park, and he talked me through every step. We were planning to serve a delicious picnic spread, and Flavor Catering helped secure the additional supplies we needed – tents, tables, coolers, ice, etc.
Literally, the day before our event, we changed the location. We learned that our event was going to be hosted on the hottest day of the year with temperatures in the 90s! Because of safety concerns, we decided it was the best option to move the event indoors. Jon and his team rose to the challenge as if the event was still happening in Central Park.
They were completely flexible and helped us transition our event from outside to inside. The event was a huge success, and I couldn’t be happier with the professionalism and execution of Flavor Catering.
